The Chairperson's Answer
Sunday, September 29, 2013
A way down some time, i was in a meeting with Ex-DRDO Chairperson Dr. P. S. Goel. A question was raised 'what should be the aim of an engineer in defence?'. The answer was from the Chairperson,"One can start with entry level engineer at def
ence." The starting of the answer caught my attention because I was one of them. He continued,"From entry level, you may be changing belts from yellow to violet to red. In this journey, you may be awarded with so called garlands and recognition. But that doesn't matter much. I'll tell you what matters. When you will be sitting under your white hairs with your grandchild on a bench in the evening and it asks 'grandma/grandpa what have you done for the country?', you should be able to answer 'Child, I have contributed to the National Security.' The child will feel motivated and inspired. Now this inspiration of children towards national security will be the thing what you have achieved. Isn't this enough to be the aim?" Applause...and that continued in my mind.
